having retired from active duty with the united states army in 2009 after 21+ years, i am highly interested in being considered for the (here, alice, you would insert the position title for which you would like to be considered) position currently available.  with logistics management and supply policies and procedures experience, as well as staff oversight background, i believe i can make a positive contribution in this position.  to acquaint you with my qualifications, i am submitting my resume.  in advance, i thank you for your time and consideration.

as demonstrated in the accompanying document, i built a successful career with the u.s. army, starting with my earliest assignment as a control and edit specialist, overseeing incoming shipments and tracking for any inventory balance discrepancies.  i was then assigned to a position as material control accounting specialist, charged with determining and implementing methodologies for acquiring materiel.  my next promotions resulted in assignments as supply specialist, where i monitored inventory and performed various supply processing duties, and material control and accounting specialist, serving as warehouse chief and being tasked with all administrative and supervisory tasks involved in the management of a 75,000-line, $10mm supply activity warehouse. 

i was then promoted to e-7 platoon sergeant, logistics management, supervising a 22-member logistics team in oversight of supply needs for upcoming deployment to iraq.   this included monitoring supply levels and providing needed technical information in support of the mission.  additionally, i was charged with responsibility for equipment transfers at the division and brigade levels.  following this, i served with the 8^th army in the republic of korea as an instructor, directing staff in training personnel for infantry and intelligence operations.  as instructor, i held responsibility for all files/records, reports and correspondence. 

in my most recent role as a logistics management specialist attached to the 8^th army in seoul, rok, i had overall responsibility for all 8^th army supply sustainment.  this included acquiring and maintaining a thorough knowledge of da, usaf, eusaq and brigade logistics policies and procedures.  i interacted directly with hqda, hqamc field support command and other departments to assure supply needs were met.  as necessary, i prepared and delivered briefings and other communication to command personnel regarding status of supplies and reserve stocks.

to complement my successful professional military background, i possess an associate of arts degree, with a 3.2 gpa, and will be receiving my bachelor of science in business management in (expected graduation date).
